DataScience@UL-FRI Project Competition 2023

On Jun 6 we concluded the 2023 DataScience@UL-FRI Project Competition. At this point we would again like to thank everyone who was a part of this competition, from students to faculty and industry advisors. A special mention goes to our sponsors. There would be no competition without you! So, a wholehearthad thank you to CREApro, In516ht, Lexpera, Medius, Outbrain, Siemens and Zurich Insurance.

The competition started in Jan 2023, it ran for 6 months and saw 19 teams work on 12 different project topics based on practical problems from our colleagues in the industry. Just like in previous years, most groups produced really high quality results. Even though most of solutions were on a high level, there were a couple that stood out from the rest. This year’s awardess are:

  • The best undergraduate team award goes to Jovana Videnović, Luka Brodnik and Haris Kupinić for their project Predicting train occupancy by using external data sources (Medius).
  • The best non data science team award goes to Žan Kogovšek, Erik Kastelec and Žiga Drab for their project Customer engagement (Zurich).
  • The best non FRI team award goes to David Lajevec and Ana Julija Prešeren for their project Forecasting traffic density on motorways (CREApro).
  • The overall third place award goes to Žan Kogovšek, Erik Kastelec and Žiga Drab for their project Customer engagement (Zurich).
