In the first week of June, we concluded the 2025 DataScience@UL-FRI Project Competition. Again, a big thank you to everyone who was a part of this competition, from students to faculty and industry advisors. The competition started in January 2025 with student applications. This year we had 12 teams and 36 students working on 10 different project topics.
All teams successfully completed their project and six were invited to present their projects in the Project Competition Finals. Based on a combined score of 6 committee members, this years awardees were¸:

Second place: Janez Tomšič, Matic Zadobovšek, Matija Bažec - Developing an ML-driven recommendation solution for iGaming [In516ht], FRI mentor: Jure Demšar, In516ht mentors: Lara Dular, Shaylin Naidoo, Deveshnie Mudaly.
Third place and the best non-mandatory team: Gal Zmazek, Lana Ramšak, Jaka Vrhovnik - Graph neural networks for conversion rate estimation [Teads], FRI mentor: Jure Demšar, Teads mentors: Anže Alič, Aljoša Vodopija.
Fourth place: Jernej Avsec, Luka Bajić - Classifying companies by industry [PredictLeads], FRI mentor: Erik Štrumbelj, PredictLeads mentors: Roq Xever, Matic Perovšek.
Fifth place: Philipp Liehe, William Bailkoski, Gopika Krishnan - Getting reliable confidence scores for transformers [ZCAM], ZCAM mentors: Aleš Virant, Domen Krašovec.
